Our Electrical and Mechanical Apprentices work side-by-side with experienced tradespeople across Tassie on routine maintenance and on large-scale projects at our power stations! PLUS, all your TAFE course and tuition fees will be covered by us.
As a Trainee Maintenance Assistant, no two days are the same. Working with experienced teams, you’ll get out to inspect dams and canals – some of which were built close to 100 years ago!
You’ll also be providing technical support to help maintain unique hydropower machines that only a select group of people in the world get to work with.

We offer Electrical and Mechanical fitter apprenticeships in various locations across Tasmania. However, we may not offer all types of apprenticeships in all locations, as they will change each year depending on upcoming planned projects and skills required in each location.
We offer four-year apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships commence on the first Monday of February each year. You will undertake a comprehensive induction hosted in Hobart.

While we can't guarantee a full-time position on completion of your apprenticeship, we are committed to supporting your career development and will work with you closely throughout your apprenticeship to ensure you have full visibility of opportunities that may be made available.
You'll be asked to submit your application, then we shortlist suitable applicants for an interview with our panel. Preferred candidates will then be invited to spend a day on-site with our Production Supervisors. The application process will also include background tests, and you may need to complete aptitude testing depending on your role.

Tell us about any practical and hands-on experience you have, for example, if your hobbies include tinkering with your car, woodwork, welding, etc. start a photo portfolio of some of your work. You must have completed year 10, and it is desirable to have completed or working towards completion of a Certificate II in Electrotechnology, Engineering Pathways or Mechanical Fitting.

Our Trainee Maintenance Assistants (MAs) work in our field locations. They support our tradespeople and operators to inspect and maintain generating plant, our dams and other water infrastructure.
The role varies in each of our field locations, from station-based inspections, routine maintenance on generators and supporting major refurbishments.
If you have any High-Risk Licences, for example, a forklift or chainsaw licence. If you don't have any, that's okay, training to obtain these licences will be provided to the successful applicants (if required). You must have completed year 10.
You'll be asked to submit your application, then we shortlist suitable applicants for an interview. Interviews will take place over a video call. Final shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend face-to-face interviews at a field location.
Absolutely! We believe you are only as young as you feel, if you have been in previous maintenance roles before and want a fresh start in a new environment, we encourage you to apply.
